Call for Applications for the Flour Mills Nigeria (FMN) Innovation Competition is ongoing. The call for applications, with the theme, Driving Food Self-Sufficiency in Nigeria Through Precision Agriculture is open in two categories. If you’re a Nigerian MSME or student, you stand the chance of winning prizes of N5 million, N3 million or N2 million.

FMN’s Prize for Innovation was established to encourage new ideas and innovations in the food and agro-allied sector in Nigeria and across the continent and how these can impact and enable a sustainable food system in Nigeria.

This is the third edition of the Flour Mills Nigeria Annual Prize for Innovation competition, and it will will focus on discovering innovators who are actively and innovatively driving the attainment of food self-sufficiency in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.

This year’s campaign is designed to facilitate the promotion of local content development in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector while also encouraging sustainable food production. Participants in this year’s contest will develop novel solutions to facilitate a paradigm shift from dependence on imported raw materials to developing local capacities to sustain local communities.

Who can apply for the Flour Mills Nigeria Innovation Competition? 

  1. Residents of Nigeria aged 18 years or over.
  2. Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria
  3. Undergraduates in Nigeria
  4. Postgraduate students in Nigeria

Category 1 – Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs)

  • Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) that are registered in Nigeria and operate in the agro-processing and food production space.
  • Your big idea and innovative solution must address the use of precision agriculture in boosting food production in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
  • Your idea should have a solid proof-of-concept, a social or commercial purpose, and a clear roadmap to scale.
  • Your presentation should clearly indicate how your idea will utilize precision agriculture to boost food production in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
  • Your entry must be accompanied by a proof of Business registration.
  • Upload a 60-second video and a short presentation on your Innovative techniques for Driving Food Self-Sufficiency in Nigeria Through Precision Agriculture

  • Your idea has a solid proof-of-concept and a social or commercial purpose.
  • Upload a 60 seconds video on your Innovative techniques for Driving food self-sufficiency in Nigeria through precision agriculture
  • Your presentation should clearly indicate how your idea will facilitate the use of precision agriculture to drive food self-sufficiency within the Nigerian food value chain.
  • Participants are encouraged to post their entries on social media – Follow and tag @FMNGroup and get your friends to engage the post
